Its leaves are often indicated to prevent or treat sunburn. Flower buds are recommended to alleviate asthma, fatigue, neuralgia and trauma. Its emerging flowers are also renowned for their great ability to heal infected wounds. In cosmetics, the flowers of this plant are an essential ingredient in monoi oil, obtained by macerating the petals in coconut oil.
